A whitewashed coaching inn dating back 300 years, this venue is a popular destination for walkers and visitors to nearby Marlborough. Part of a well-established Estate, the pub has its own brewery, distillery and smokehouse, with much of the produce used in the kitchen coming from the estate and walled garden.
This inn offers excellent en-suite accommodation either in the main property or in the coach house.
Various dining options are available here, traditional pub classics served in the bar or garden for a relaxed experience or more formal dining in the restaurant and the shaker-influenced cafe offering delicious cakes and much more.
Role and Responsibilities
As Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for Managing daily operations
Leading from the front and acting as a role model to the operations team in terms of sales skills and customer service.
You will promote excellence in customer service, deal promptly with customer queries, prepare and action accurate function sheet documents and participate in opening/closing procedures of all pub & café areas, taking full accountability for cash up.
Supporting the Management team to maintain a safe workplace in all areas and a food safe environment in all risk areas.
You will ensure the accuracy of menus alongside the Chef and Management team and will be competent in systems knowledge, for example: operation of tills and administration.
Supporting the commercial objectives and stock accuracy;
Understanding the site’s commercial objectives and supporting the management team in the delivery of those objectives;
Placing and receiving relevant orders from suppliers;
Maintaining standards across sites materials (menus, drinks lists, POS) paying particular attention to cleanliness;
Supporting the Management team in ensuring that the site operates within parameters of the law.
Management of Front of house team;
Ensuring all front of house understand & adhere to house rules;
Providing the restaurant & café team with training, coaching and guidance;
Leading the team organising their day to day duties.
You will assist in on-the-job training for new staff and existing members in areas of sales techniques and customer service, policies and procedures and product knowledge on the menu, maintaining high levels of motivation within the team and ensuring a positive team spirit!
Teamwork; You will play an active role in daily duties, assisting in the training of new staff, customer requests and stock availability.
You will also assist in other areas of the business as and when requested by the manager.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working in a similar environment; previous Gastro Pub experience would be ideal with more of a focus on wet rather than food.
You will become a key part of driving the business forward and maintaining the consistent quality and high standards.
